I will talk about how I define what I do as Graphic Design, but also seek to redefine what a Graphic Designer does. – GM
I’m really happy to say that I will be apart of a new publication curated by Eric Smith, a great designer, illustrator, and maker. The story behind the Live Now community is pretty amazing, read below.
Wimbledon is always an exciting time of the summer and this year it’s just an added bonus along with the World Cup. Every year, I root for Andy Roddick – hoping that one year an American will win a grand slam. Last year was maybe the closest we got, Roddick lost to Federer in a four hour match, but it’s just not fair when you’re competing with Federer (best tennis player ever) and Nadal. I’m not saying I like those two players, I respect them for how good they are but on the other hand, I hate them for how good they are. Roddick was born in the wrong time period.
If you haven’t been watching Wimbledon up to now, the finals are this Sunday with expected Rafael Nadal and the unexpected rank 15 player, Tomas Berdych. Hopefully it’s a good match, although you can’t be the 11 hour match from the first week.

The 2010 winter Olympics are being hosted in Vancouver, Canada – above are shots of the beautiful architecture of the Olympic village.
Having HBO at home has saved my Sunday nights, for the last few weeks I’ve been into their Sunday lineup which included True Blood, Hung and Entourage. I say includ-ed because last Sunday concluded season one of Hung and season two of True Blood. HBO makes me happy because instead of making you wait months for another series to premiere… they have new seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm (finally) and Bored to Death (looks great) waiting for me.
I just finished watching both premiers, and thoroughly enjoyed both of them. It was the series premiere of Bored to Death starring Jason Schwartzman and although it started a bit slow, that’s usual for new series and I can tell that once characters develop and the show progresses… we will have something good on our hands. If you were a fan of Seinfeld I would definitely recommend Curb Your Enthusiasm, especially in a few episodes when the Seinfeld reunion happens, can’t wait.
Tennis is such a wonderful sport, it truly is and I feel as if not enough people in America are watching it. It’s such a classy game, but at the same time it is very enjoyable to watch. June marks the start of Wimbledon in England, it’s one of the most prestigious tournaments. An example of this is all players (men and female) are required to wear white uniforms. So far it’s been a great tournament and we still have quite a few days left, so I ask you to take the time and watch a match and see what you think. They are showing Wimbledon early in the morning on ESPN until around 2:00pm.

I just wanted to say thank you to the Lakers for providing me with an entertaining beginning of summer by winning the NBA Finals. It has been an enjoyable ride, it ended Sunday night in Orlando as we finished the series with a 4-1 victory. Tomorrow morning is the parade in L.A., should be a fun event and a great way to support your team.
Now that basketball is over, tennis is the main sport I will be watching this summer.
Last night in Orlando the Lakers played game four against the Magic. Now we’re already up 2-1 and we still have one more game in Orlando to play before we come back home and early on in the game you may have thought this was definitely going to be a six or seven game series.
You thought wrong, the Lakers came back in the third and quarter with dedication and focus. Especially from Veteran point guard Derek Fisher who is known as the “Old Man” on the team (I think he’s only 34?). We barely made it to overtime in the fourth with a three from Fisher that let us to over time where with another three pointer from Fisher secured our victory. Now we are 3-1 in the series with a possibility of ending it this Sunday in Orlando. Good times in L.A.
It has been an exciting Sunday morning, getting up at 6:00am to watch Rodger Feder make tennis history by tying Pete Sampras record of 14 Grand Slam Victories by winning the French Open over Robin Soderling. Nadal being defeated early finally allowed Federer to win the French Open, which now means that he has won all four majors. The last person do win all four majors was Andre Agassi in 2001 who was there today to award Federer his newest Grand Slam title.
This was definitely an exciting tournament, people have been saying Federer’s legacy was finished but Nadal losing in the fourth round to Soderling has definitely changed things. We will be seeing much more tennis at the Wimbeldon towards the end of June.

I love summer, for one because the French Open has started and Nadal is doing well while Federer (I dislike him, a little) is not. Also, on a side note, the NBA playoffs are on which is thrilling… go Lakers.
Last night, the Lakers played the Nuggets at home for the first game of this playoff series. This first game has given us a preview of how exciting this series will be. Although the Lakers didn’t start off well early on, they were able to score some smart plays and play some solid defense. The next game will be played tomorrow, and if they win this series then we will either be playing Orlando or Cleveland in the finals. I love this time of the year.
LOST is finally back on!! Wednesdays at 9:00 PM. Tonight was the season premiere and they aired two episodes, things are getting crazy. Anyone else watch it?
The 44th President, Barack Obama, is here. The White House has also updated it’s website for the new president, and I never noticed but it’s a pretty damn nice website design wise.
Shepard Fairey is the owner of OBEY clothing and more recently, known for designing the infamous “Hope” poster of Barack Obama. He was recently interviewed on the Colbert Report, pretty excited stuff!
So I just want to remind all of you that the inauguration of the 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama, will be this Tuesday… he will be sworn in at 11:30 AM. This is an exciting day for us all, history in the making so please, I hope all of you witness it by either listening or watching the inauguration on Tuesday.
CNN as usual has some great visuals online relating to the inauguration, they have a complete schedule of events here. One thing CNN did which, which I loved, was that they put up all of the past presidents inaugural speech transcripts/videos, all the way back to George Washington… you can view that here.
This has been all over the news, I’m sure most of you have already heard about it but none the less it’s an amazing story. A commercial airplane was actually able to land on the hudson river due to birds jamming both engines without anyone getting hurt. This must have been a life changing situation for the passengers of that airbus, thinking you are going to die as the plane is crashing then surviving. Kudos to the pilot.
